Born in Illinois, Sarah Wayne Callies was raised in Hawaii and showed an interest in acting during her school years. After graduated from high school, she entered Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and continued her involvement in theater. She continued her education at Denver’s National Theater Conservatory where she obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree in 2002.
Sarah Wayne Callies’ first role on television was as Kate O’Malley, a recurring role on the short-lived CBS show Queens Supreme (2003). Her first starring role was as Detective Jane Porter on The WB’s Tarzan. After appeared in numerous TV series as guest star, she landed on her most prominent role when she played as Dr. Sara Tancredi in FOX’s Prison Break (2005).
Her recent TV show is the horror/drama series The Walking Dead (2010), where she plays as Lori Grimes.
Sarah Wayne Callies married Josh Winterhalt, a martial arts teacher, in June 2002. In 2007, they had their first child together, Keala.
